By service

Service-by-service sports pricing.

PSA — Sports standard

Economy $25 → Express $75+. PSA dominates sports card resale; premium typically justified by liquidity.

SGC — Vintage specialist

Standard $15–25 for vintage sports. Best value for pre-1980 Topps and tobacco-era cards.

BGS — Subgrade premium

Standard $30+, premium tiers $75+. Best for modern rookies where Pristine 10 subgrades drive premium.

CGC — Growing fast

Standard $25+, bulk programs cheaper. CGC has gained market share on modern Prizm/Optic basketball.

Sports card grading economics

A typical 20-card sports submission at PSA Regular: $1,040 all-in. Modern Bowman Chrome and Panini Prizm cards are notoriously centering-sensitive — without pre-grading, expect 30–40% of "mint-looking" raw cards to come back as PSA 7s or 8s due to off-center cuts.

Pre-grading at $1–$2 per card catches the centering misses before they cost you submission fees. ROI on a typical batch: 10–15×.
