Vintage to modern, every set supported.

Magic spans 30 years of print runs with wildly different paper, ink and finish. SnapGrade is trained across all of them.

Alpha/Beta/Unlimited

Corner rounding (Alpha only), reserved-list ink saturation, and 1993-era paper aging are all part of the model.

Modern foils

Foil curl, surface scratches and the unique "rainbow shimmer" of modern Magic foils are evaluated separately from non-foil surface.

Secret Lair drops

Special-printed Secret Lair runs have unique surface treatments. We handle them with set-specific tuning.

Centering on Black Border

Old-frame black-border Magic cards are unforgiving on centering. We measure to the pixel.

Italian / Foreign Black-Border

Italian Legends, Renaissance, French and other foreign printings are supported with print-run-specific tuning.

Confidence refund

For very rare vintage cards with limited training data, confidence drops and your credit refunds automatically.

Magic is the highest-stakes TCG to grade

A Black Lotus Alpha at PSA 9 is a $250,000+ card. At PSA 10 it's well into seven figures. Even Unlimited and Italian printings have five-figure grading premiums. The cost of a wrong submission decision is enormous — and the right pre-grading saves you tens of thousands of dollars in opportunity cost.

SnapGrade gives you the centering measurement, surface scan, and corner check — backed by 412 verified PSA returns and a published miss log — so you can decide which of your reserved-list cards belong in slabs.

What grading services to consider for Magic

Common questions

Questions we hear all the time.

Can SnapGrade grade Alpha and Beta Magic cards?
Yes — including the unique Alpha-only corner rounding. The model is trained on 1993-era paper aging and ink saturation specific to original-print Magic.
Does it handle modern foils and Secret Lair drops?
Yes. Foil surface, modern finish variations, and Secret Lair special treatments all have dedicated handling.
How accurate is SnapGrade on Magic specifically?
84% within ±0.5 across 38 verified Magic-specific PSA returns. Vintage Alpha/Beta returns are a smaller training segment so confidence may run lower on those.
Should I use PSA, BGS, or CGC for Magic?
Depends on the card. PSA has the most market liquidity. BGS is preferred for subgrade-heavy collectors. CGC is faster. Pre-grade with SnapGrade first to know your card's ceiling.
