How does AI grading differ from human grading?
PSA graders evaluate cards under controlled lighting using trained eyes. SnapGrade's AI evaluates the same axes (centering, corners, edges, surface) using pixel-level analysis — often more precisely than a human eye, but without authentication.
How was your Pokémon AI trained?
On 50,000+ cards with verified PSA returns, with Pokémon as the largest single segment. Each card was paired with its actual PSA result to teach the model what the axes look like at each grade level.
Can AI accurately grade rare 1st Edition cards?
Yes. 1st Edition stamps, vintage paper aging, and WOTC print artifacts are all part of the training set. For very rare cards (e.g., 1st Edition holo Charizards) the model has high confidence.
What about Pokémon cards from sets the AI hasn't seen?
For unfamiliar sets, confidence drops and the credit refunds automatically. We expand set coverage continuously — flag missing sets to support and we'll prioritize.
